Students who are new to IUSD and will be entering either 7th or 8th grade in the 2021-2022 school year are eligible to take summer math tests to help ensure placement in the most appropriate math course. The tests are administered during the summer before school starts. Incoming seventh graders will be placed in Math 7 and incoming eighth graders will be placed in Math 8 unless student performance on the test, in combination with a review of documentation from the student's prior school year, supports the student enrolling in an accelerated course. Supporting documentation would include 1) a transcript that lists the course in which the student was enrolled and the grade they earned last year, and 2) a letter or email from the student's former school or teacher that recommends the student for an accelerated course. Please submit this supporting documentation to your school. Students must be enrolled in IUSD prior to the selected testing date. (NOTE: Testing dates and formats are subject to change. At this point, like last year, we are planning on administering these assessments virtually via Zoom. Links will be emailed within 5 days prior to the testing date.
